अनुरागतत्त्वम्

स्रोतांसि नद्या सह संगतानि

नदी समेता खलु सागरेण ।

श्लिष्यन्ति वाता गगने परस्परम्

चिराय युक्ता कमनीयरागैः ॥

एकाकिनो केऽत्र भवन्ति लोके

प्रायेण सर्वेऽपि मिथो मिलन्ति ।

सैवेश्वरेच्छा यदि सत्यमेतत्

त्वया सहाहं न कथं मिलेयम् ॥ 

चुम्बन्ति शैला गगनं तरंगाः

अन्योन्यमालिङ्ग्य जले भ्रमन्ति ।

पुष्पं न किंचित् सहते ह्यवज्ञाम्

यद्यन्यपुष्पेण तिरस्कृतं चेत् ॥

श्लिष्टा धरा सूर्यकरैः सुगाढम्

पाथोनिधिं चुम्बति चन्द्ररश्मिः ।

व्यर्थानि तान्यत्र हि चुम्बनानि

न चुम्बसि त्वं यदि मामिदानीम् ॥

The fountains mingle with the river,
And the rivers with the ocean;
The winds of heaven mix forever,
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single;
All things by a law divine
In one another's being mingle;--
Why not I with thine?

See! the mountains kiss high heaven,
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister flower would be forgiven,
If it disdained it's brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth,
And the moonbeams kiss the sea;--
What are all these kissings worth,
If thou kiss not me?
